From England to France by boat and walked into Germany
Slept outside in foxholes and elements – 0 degrees sometimes. For about 2 months
Injured from a shell explosion and thrown about 12 feet. Kept fighting – injuries not know until after the war – spent time in the Moore Gen. Hosp. NC and recuperated in the Biltmoore House, NC
